A Profile on New build property in Wales, New Homes, flats, houses and apartments in Wales

New Build Homes in Wales

Looking to buy a new home? well what about buying a new build property in Wales, with three National Parks, miles and miles of beautiful coastline, numerous areas of outstanding natural beauty and hundreds of castles and historic sites, Wales is one of the UK’s most scenic areas. What opportunities are there for house hunters looking for a new-build home in the picturesque Principality?

Though it has undoubtedly suffered over the years from a decline in its manufacturing industries and, more recently, a slump in property prices in some areas, Wales has also benefited from investment in new business sectors, such as IT, financial services and biosciences, and some sectors of the housing market are still buoyant. Prime properties (roughly speaking, the top 25% by value) in particular are reported to be appreciating steadily in Wales, yet overall, prices are still extremely competitive compared with some other parts of the UK.

The majority of the 3 million-strong population of Wales lives in or close to the country’s main towns and cities along southern coast (e.g. Cardiff, Swansea, Port Talbot and Newport) and the northern seaboard (Rhyl, Colwyn Bay and inland at Wrexham).

Wales is well connected to the rest of the UK. The main roads in and out of Wales are the M4 in the south, stretching eastwards from north of Swansea to central London and linking to the Midlands and southwest, and the A55 in the north (known as the North Wales Expressway) connecting Holyhead to Chester. There are numerous, regular rail services too, bringing the North, Midlands and London within easy reach, and a comprehensive local rail network within Wales itself.

Large and small new home developers are busy all over Wales, providing choice and value for money for buyers of new homes. For example, in the rural surrounds of Hayscastle, northwest of Haverfordwest, Tara Builders has a small new build development of just 12 two-bedroom houses for sale, priced between £179,950 and £199,900. Y-Glyn features two designs of home, set in landscaped gardens and benefiting from high-quality interiors and eco-friendly under-floor heating. It’s brilliantly located for the stunning Pembrokeshire coast, one of Wales’s National Parks.

College Fields, in the hillside village of Tanyfron near Wrexham, is local developer Mytton Homes’ latest scheme, featuring a range of property styles, including two-storey, two-bedroom/two-bathroom semi-detached houses (from £129,950), three-storey, two-bedroom semis (from £139,950) and three-storey, four-/five-bedroom detached properties (from £209,950). Currently, Mytton are offering deals on selected homes, including paying your 5% deposit or contributing to your first year’s mortgage payments.

LW Properties have renovated a landmark, Victorian property on Rhyl Promenade, converting it into 12 brand-new luxury apartments, each with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Prices at The Palace start at £159,999. Buyers can expect high-specification interiors, secure parking and sea views – some properties even have a balcony.

There’s an opportunity to live in one of Cardiff’s leafiest and most affluent suburbs, Penylan, courtesy of Housebuilder Taylor Wimpey’s Equinox scheme. It’s an area with plenty of parks and tree-lined avenues, conveniently close to the city centre. Two-bedroom terraced properties here start at £145,995, with a choice of style of three-bedroom homes priced from £179,995, including three-storey houses with a garage from £209,995.

For a more rural location, few are more appealing than the village of Llanfoist, overlooking Abergavenny on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, another designated National Park. Barratt Homes’ Plas Mynydd development has family homes in a range of designs, including three-bedroom semi-detached properties from £166,995, four-bedroom detached homes from £269,995 and spacious, three-storey detached houses with five bedrooms, priced from £377,995.
